Stacy Medina was an amazing addition to the show! Thank you for your awesome pre-show performance!!!

Stacy Medina, a native of Chicago, expressed her passion for dance even as a young girl, improvising in her front yard with the music blaring. Her passion led her to earn a BFA in Dance at the University of Illinois. Post graduation, Stacy studied Balinese dance in Indonesia and performed professionally with Chicago modern dance companies, including "The 58 Group" with Ginger Farley and "Estradanza" with Juan Estrada. Embracing a desire to change locales, Stacy, along with her husband Eric, relocated to Portland in 2010. Stacy began taking modern dance class at Conduit with Gregg Bielemeier where she was warmly welcomed by a beautiful and fun community of modern dancers. Aside from enjoying Saturday morning dance meet ups, Stacy integrates the art of dance as an Occupational Therapist and created a Dance for Seniors class at her former place of work.

MEET THE CAST OF "THE WHEEL"!

Taryn Johnson began dancing at 3 years old, following in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother. She began her training at the British Dancing Academy in Renton, WA, where she studied Ballet, Modern and Jazz under the direction of Sandy Baca. She continued her studies with Marcia Quigley-Neel at the Maple Valley School of Ballet. In Portland, Taryn has added Hip-Hop, Salsa, Lindy-Hop, and Argentine Tango into the mix while also earning a BA in Applied Linguistics. Currently, Taryn teaches at the Center for Movement Arts, PCC, and the Multnomah Athletic Club. She enjoys working as a freelance dancer and choreographer. Most recently, her work was presented at the 2011 fundraiser for OHSU's Knight Cancer Institute, and in the 2011 production of SWEAT. You might have seen her perform with Erin Zintek, Ko&Co, LizzyMoves, Faith Hunt Levine, Esther LaPointe, and the Agnieszka Laska Dancers; or as a guest artist with In.Gauge Dance Company, Northwest Conservatory of Dance, and Oregon Coast Dance Center.

Originally from Wisconsin, Erin Zintek trained in jazz, ballet, tap, musical theater, and modern. She received her BFA from the University of Iowa in dance. This is where she fell in love with modern dance, and never looked back. She toured across the midwest with the University's Dancer's and Company.Erin performed for ACDFA two years in a row and received multiple scholarships. Professionally she has danced with Charlotte Adams & Dancers, David Dorfman & Dancers, Poetic Rebound Co., Bill Young, Armando Duarte, Daniel Stark, to name a few. In 2008, she traveled to Brazil to study Capoeira and dance with Bale Folclorico.  She moved to Portland OR in winter 2009, and has since worked with Paige Mckinney, Esther LaPointe, The Detail, and even produced a few of her own shows. She is now assistant coach for the Multnomah Athletic Club dance department, where she oversees the company with Head Coach Laura Haney. She is certified in Pilates and Yoga, and teaches at two other studios. She is passionate about exploring movement in all forms, and hopes to continue her quest to help her students find their best selves.

Being born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio inspired Sara Himmelman to strike out and make it rich after graduating with her B.F.A. from the University of Akron. Listening to her adventurous spirit took her on a real magical mystery tour.  She has lived in a van, traveling the national parks and even spent 3 months living in Texas. After resting her bones in Denver and waking up to the Rockies every morning she has chosen to make a name for herself in this fine city of Portland.  She is thrilled to be working with Esther and the cast of The Wheel and cannot wait for you to experience the show.

Currently, she enjoys working on and maintaining her technique with ballet and modern at the Center for Movement Arts and Body Vox.  She is overflowing with gratitude to dance through this life.

Estelle Olivares has been performing on stage since she was 14 years old.  Her background is in theatre and most styles of dance, including contemporary, ballet, jazz, tap, and partner dancing.  While she has a deep heart for all the aspects of theatre, dancing is the gift she treasures the most.  Estelle has performed with a handful of local choreographers and for several dance and performance companies, including Kinetic Images, The Musical Theatre Co., Portland Opera and tEEth.  Most recently she performed Argentine tango on the Ten Tiny stage and choreographed and performed in a collaborative dance film for the local sensory deprivation business, Float On.
